However, we do recommend weather protection outdoors by painting the cable or running it inside pipe or conduit, so colour choice outdoors may not matter as much. And you can, of course, join different coloured cables and thickness together with only very minimal signal loss, by using cable couplers (available individually or in our "cable joint kits"). Alternatively, you can use an 'F' connector plate indoors to join your outdoor cable and indoor cable. The "F" plugs that we stock have been carefully selected to match the cable that we supply (silicone grease should be applied). We also supply coloured cable suitable for Sky, Freeview, Virgin. Audiophile Notes A popular way to minimise inductance in loudpeaker wires is to use two lengths of WF100 coaxial cable (or the twin version, below) and connect the outer copper braid of one cable to the inner copper wire of the other for both cables at both ends. Solder short, flexible, multistrand wires to the ends and finish with hot-melt adhesive or potting compound for strength and protection. It's rigid enough to force its way through insulation material. Then pass the cable through and pull the "straw" out. AC200 straw £1.50 Qty Alkathene Conduit Cable protection conduit pipe 25 mm outer diameter x approx. 25 metre long. Internal diameter 20 mm. Suitable for burying in soil or concrete. (Because of friction you probably can't push WF100 cable more than 20m up this pipe so it has to be cut then rejoined with coupler below). It has been suggested that you can super glue the end of some strong thread to a heavy ball bearing or glass "marble" and roll that through the pipe. Use it to pull through some strong cord or fishing line. Then use that to pull the cable through. (Please let us know if you have a better method!) Mark says: I do have a better method. If you attach a ball of tissue - enough to fill the pipe but not tight - to some light string and put it in the pipe one end, you can suck it through using a vacuum cleaner from the other end.
